No, quite aware that its a B7 discussion. The D2 /C5 / B6 RNS-D unit is basically the same thing bar the part number and facia fit.
B7 was too new to ever have an RNS-D as im sure you're aware.
AMI was a confusing term I used. Yes, the universal AMI was available on the Mk II, but the Mk i had either a usb or apple dock available in place of a CD changer.

The USB version looks the same, my grey cells can't remember its exact name to search for one right now and as usual i'm rushing between things this evening...
The RNS-E hardware can handle both a reversing camera and a TV tuner, but I think its an Audi firmware limitation. Its been a few years, but iirc the two were never an option together on any Audi, but the Lambo Gollardo (same RNS-E unit) was available with both rev cam and TV, and the TV tuner would switch to a set input when in reverse and back again from what I remember.
There was a big retro fit discussion on one of the forums about it somewhere...
All that said, wiring any sort of high quality audio into the TV tuner almost always ends up with alternator whine as you have to traverse the whole car several times with the signal before it gets out of the speakers..... Id definitely go for a solution direct to headunit.....
