I've fitted the wakaa android auto apple carplay box to mine which has not only given me all the benefits of android auto features but also has let me use Google maps via that instead. You don't get the 3D city views but the online Google maps overlay functionality is back!
There was a group buy online which gives £40 off the normal wakaa box price so if anyone else wants to go down that route I can post the details and I'll upload a pic tomorrow of it working on Android auto on the D4 screen
