Default EGR and a couple of related questions

My 3.0 TDI has about 250K km and I have been considering deleting and/or blocking the EGR. Question is, should the EGR be deleted in the ECU or is it enough to just block it with a plate? And, if its being deleted, is it necessary to add the plate?

Next item to consider is the swirl flap housing. I guess it's just a matter of time before they give error messages. Or they have actually, but it hasn't returned. I've seen pictures of the housing and I'm pretty sure mine is no better, so I've been thinking to buy new ones as I don't plan on spending hours to clean out all of the carbon build-up. Any thoughts?

The engine has a so called stage 2 tune, means it should have close 300 bhp. Would the carbon build-up in the plastic intake duct over the engine restrict the airflow in a way that it should have been cleaned out or replaced as well? As far as I know, the MAP sensor is located at one of the inter coolers, so any loss in pressure after could lead to loss in power?
