There was a video somewhere on Youtube of a guy going at a D3's side glass with a sledge hammer for a couple of minutes before it was bendy and broken up enough to be peeled back with Kevlar gloves so I can't imagine a big screwdriver or even a few blows from a DIY hammer would compromise the security of the car but it's sh!t when damage is left by some little **** trying and failing.
Interesting stuff. Thanks The pr codes I have for the glass are
VW8 = Side and rear windows, burglar-restrained
4GP = Windshield in heat-insulating glass
And I have an Audi number matching replacement en route, fingers crossed it's the same.

I'll have to find that video tonight you mentioned
