Its rare and a nice touch, but wasnt actually that expensive.
£165 upgrade, of which £75 was the matching wooden gearknob that came FOC with the option. As there is no airbag, its best for upgrading a D3 sport with a 3 spoke wheel already, but as all D3 sports came with birch as standard, not walnut, that narrows down the customer base somewhat..... Its interesting you've decided to 'downgrade' it to leather - Any particular reason? I always assumed the wooden wheels would be quite desirable and worth keeping....

Let me tell you, the wooden wheel is terrible to live with, it takes forever to warm up so I have had to wear gloves for driving ( I'm only 38 LOL ) and it's slippery as hell.
It might look nice ( not to my taste ) but i've hated it ever since buying the car 2 years ago. The price of the wheel when new might have been a cheap upgrade but I'm sure to buy one now it would be a pretty penny. TBF I'm only trying to get my money back from the leather one I bought. It was a straight swop for me for a 3 spoke sport wheel so I guess your right, someone with a sports D3 could "upgrade". It could also be useful for someone with a 4 spoke SE wheel that wants to have a more sporty looking wheel with a touch of class ?? LOL Si

I love my A8, it's by far the best car I have ever owned and i've had a 911/997, Cayenne S ,Jag XF, Q7, 535D etc etc.
I have the 4.2tdi L in black with Amaretto interior so it's very unique, being the long wheel base it's perfect for ferrying around my children in comfort but also for me eating up the miles with pace and relative economy...but the wheel is a step to far for me. I have plans to change the wood for carbon fibre or at least dull it down by making piano black so it's more me. And i'm from Yorkshire, the land of plain speaking LOL Si
