Gearbox codes
I've found out today that I can change the codes with my code reader (launch) my original code was 00001 it wouldn't accept 00032, but it did accept 00011
I found the code guide on audipages, does anybody know of other codes to try? Mine is running the FBG box it was registered in 2000 with no sport mode Cheers Dave

Try 00012, 00022, 00011, 00021 etc, there are known codes that I've found and it seems some boxes will take the 00011 but not 00012, if it doesnt accept the first code try the second. My last code was 00032, very nice but please try all the others first to compare..... then I might tell you the best code........ Chase me! lol

I've got a feeling I've changed mine to 101, but need to check.
I did make the exact same change on my PF S8 so it's probably not that gearbox/sport specific. Edit: Changed 101 to 111, see this thread: http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?p=47089

Finally: gone, but not forgotten..... 1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors. e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later) 1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer. And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850! i tried a few of the sportier codes, but ended up going back to the original coding.
anything more sporty meant it was forever shifting down and generally getting on my nercves.

I found, for example if you weretrying 00032 and if it didnt take the code I then tried 00031 etc (00011 or 00012) but best one I found so far and the one in use at the moment is 01031, although this as far as I know is coding for use with tiptronic buttons on the steering wheel but give it a try, if gearbox wont accept the code then the 010** is for the tipronic buttons as far as I can tell. Still looking for other codes, will let you know.....

Hi I've got 1031 in today main difference in tiptronic seems to be doesn't change up when it gets to the limiter and kick down button doesn't work. so it stops unexpected gear changes, could be good for track use! In drive seems more eager to be in a sporty gear, but I've not driven far enough yet, to see if I like it.

How do you define "best one"? Performance/economy/comfort? Cheers, Jim

Jim, I had 00031 before the 01031, before that I tried 00021/2, 00011/2 and 00001/2, it came standard as 00000, all had made a slight difference, it seems to me the higher the end numbers, the box becomes a stage more responsive and have found (for me) the 01031 to be the best one performance wise and by performance I dont mean power, the box seems to perform its actual tasks better, and thanks to awolfinsheepsclothes, his results seem to bear out my findings with this code, the box doesnt seem to be hunting about for gears and holds onto a gear longer/better. I do have a heavy foot, its a V8 afterall lol, but this code hasnt hurt my mpg, if anything it seems to have helped, average roundabout the doors was around 16-17 mpg and run to work gave 19 mpg, now run to work sees 20-21 mpg with 18-19mpg. I can only imagine that as it now holding gears longer this is helping the mpg. These are my findings, YMMV
