Cornering lights not working
Hi Guys,
I'm 6 weeks into A8 ownership and this forum has been a massive help (thanks for all the good tips). I bought my 2006 4.2 TDI with a few known issues, and I'm slowly chipping away at them with the help of forum - but one new issue has left me stumped... My car has xenon lights, next to the xenons are some H7 corning lights, and then inboard from them is a P21W reversing bulb that gets used as a daylight running light. These H7 corning lights just never ever come on - not at speed, reversing, cornering, indicating... I connected VCDS (official Hex+Can version) and cannot connect to the following modules: [29] left light [39] right light [55] headlight range [49] automatic light But I can connect to and retrieve the coding for the following modules: [09] cent. elect. - Coded as 0143121 [4F] cent. electr. II - Coded as 0010101 I wanted to enable showroom mode, but cannot without module 55. Does anyone know what coding I need to be able to activate these corning lights, or am I missing some hardware? Do I have AFS, and should these bulbs actually work? Option xx?xxxx #4 seems to be the only module [09] coding where the P21W's and xenons work as expected. Many Thanks Simon

Mmi sounds like a strange one that,
If there is no warning lights on the dis for headlights then I suspect someone's coded the car to the most basic lights available so to prevent warnings. You would help others help you by posting a full scan and also try to confirm the headlights fitted to the car.

I have a hole in the air-con radiator and a duff locking button on the passenger door, so faults on modules [08] and [52] can be ignored (I'll get round to fixing them eventually). Check into 19 - CAN Gateway
Check the Installation list and make sure 55 (and every other module you have) is is ticked The cornering light is 35W H8 bulb)

I activated module 55 in the CAN Gateway, but VCDS won't connect to it - neither during the full system scan or by connecting directly to the module. I suspect the controller is either dead or not physically installed. Does anyone know where it should be located in the car? I think I need to hunt for it and see what I find. Many Thanks Simon

They only work at slow speeds going round corners, moving slowly round a corner out of a driveway for example. I don't recall seeing them work at any other time for a long time, never on big grill cars anyway. The APS swivelling lights system is so much more better and subtle I think Audi sort of stopped the cornering lights from doing much, plus who wants a nasty orange halogen polluting their nice Xenon beam ?
