Default Display problem

Hi
Fired the car up this morning, to drop the other half into town, and noticed on the display that the gear selection display is highlighted all in red,and stays as shown in the picture whilst driving, even in tip,so you have no idea what gear your in.Car drives fine,no issues. So any ideas,is this a fault code of some sort?
Have uploaded pic of display

Cheers
Rich

Yup.. usually means the gearbox has gone into limp mode... You'd need the codes from VAG-COM to work out what went wrong. Could be anything from a voltage blip to a gearbox about to explode.

Cheers Psyche for that interesting reply.
Just spoke to my Audi man,he said the solenoids can play up,so its on the computer Monday afternoon, for a scan and see what happens.
He did mention maybe a fluid change,
But typical,I have been thinking of changing the car to a facelift S8,so will wait and see on that.
