Default Inlet manifold re-paint

As some of you might recall, the inlet manifold was painted red when I bought my current S8.

I never liked it and, some time ago, it started to peel and flake - just the excuse I needed to get rid of it! With a wire wheel attached to my drill it didn't take too long and, initially, the bare aluminium looked OK.

But the ally started to discolour, so this weekend I cleaned it up and repainted it. Very pleased with the results (see attached photos).

Looks great!

I've considered doing the same myself ... just haven't got around to it yet.

I also just happen to have a brand new complete inlet manifold sat around that I was considering swapping over some time. Might get that painted/polished/etc first.

Did you buy the one that was on ebay a little earlier this year? By the time I thought it was a good buy, it had gone!

Now, when you fit your new one, would you consider selling (or loaning/exchanging)the old one? I've wanted Guy (Daviesbike) to recondition one for me, but need an exchange unit as I can't afford to have my car off the road whilst he does it.

Yup, that's the one!

I bookmarked it, then forgot all about it. It must've been a month or more later I saw the bookmark and noticed it was still available and that it had a 'make an offer' option, so I made them a ridiculous offer and they accepted! I wasn't planning to use it at the time, but I figured it would be worth buying and storing in case I, or anyone else on here, needed it in future.

But certainly if/when I use it you're welcome to my old one.

If I haven't fitted the new one before the next meet, I'll bring it with me, otherwise I'll bring you my old one

Nice work Jim, now buy the spare from Mark and break out the Solvol Autosol out and start polishing, that would look awesome when you opened the bonnet
