Seat memory repair offer
Would anyone be interested in getting their seat memory control panel backlight fixed? I'm thinking of doing it for £25 including return postage.
What you will get is:
You will end up with a fully working control panel looking like this: How to remove the control panel: I'm thinking of doing all the pieces received as a batch in one day, so I will leave this ad up till the 31st of January so people have time to sign up. You can post here or PM me to have you added to the list. I will message everyone on the evening of 31st with address & payment details |

Interesting...
...and interested. I'm not sure I even knew there was a backlight for this - #skooldaysaturday

Never noticed a backlight on mine, is it related to ignition, lighting or what?
And can you cope with non-black versions?

These have been broken on most cars for many years, so most owners (including me) don't know they light up. I only found out because "1" on my control panel didn't work so i investigated it. |

PS: does taking this component out out cause any fault code triggering/need for VCDS resetting, 'cos that would make it a bit more problematic...

Actually the two lights are there in the ON/OFF switch (which doesn't seem to operate correctly). The 4 buttons are unlit but do actually work, though feel a bit sluggish.
So I'm in for a beige one.

David and I have both been experimenting with ways of improving it, I've posted a little bit of information here. David has tried something else and I've also tried the Woollies leather conditioning colouring. It works reasonably well, though isn't a perfect match - slightly lighter and somewhat more reflective. If anyone else is in the beige fraternity just shout out here and we'll advise; we're still experimenting. Two, actually totally different, touch-up processes are illustrated here, oddly they are equally effective. Neither is really visible to the human eye in the driving seat.

Mine isn’t a black interior. The leather is silver grey but the trim is largely platinum. I’ve just ordered some Plti-kote paint to se how that works.

I don’t want one. I might do but I haven’t actually checked if it lights up or not. So I’m going to assume it still works fine. They are Schrodinger’s buttons. Until I am aware of their function the lights are both alive and dead
