Default Brake Sizes (Front)

Does anyone know the maximum front disc and caliper size you can fit with 19 inch wheels.

Also does anyone know the mounting hole centres distance for the original mounting bracket.

I'm starting to look at alternatives as RS4/6 8 pots seem to be as rare as rocking horse sh1te

Cheers

I have 380mm disks and AP Racing 6 Pot Callipers on mine (19" RS6 reps).
I'll measure the distance between centres, but your options are fairly limited. I only found 3 companies that will supply a Big Brake kit off the shelf. Only one of those is a known company. AP do a direct replacement only but a small specialist firm manufactured my kit for my to custom spec. I'll post details later today but there is a thread in here on them.

I've just had a read through your AP upgrade sticky and I've a few questions.

Have you just upgraded the fronts?

Did AP provide back plates or have you removed them?

Why did you use a custom spec when there is a direct replacement (do you mean a 4 pot direct replacement)?

The reason I'm asking about the centre distance is there are a set of Alcon 6 pots for sale at a reasonable price which I'm hoping will fit without major mods.

The reason I had a custom build was that I could not find the direct bolt on brakes available second hand. new direct from Audi was mega bucks.

I see what you mean by distance between enters now. On PF cars the mounting points are axial. The standard brake callipers bolt directly to them. The callipers you have there are radial mounted so they will need adapters to mount them to you hub carrier. I had a pair of these made for my set. You can see in the ebay page there is a suggested range of disc size. That indicates that you can have different sized adapters to fit the calipers inside your wheel and the disks inside the callipers.

As can be seen here on a FL with Brembos the hub carriers will allow raial bolts to mount the calliper.

Whereas here

the callipers are mounted axially so the hub carrier is different.

What sort of brakes have you got now?

I have not done the rears yet as I am waiting to find some 325mm by 21mm disks.

The car's a 2000 S8. The first diagram looks right with FL Brembos bolted radially.

This kit may be a direct fit or may need a spacer for the wheel (5 to 10mm).

Its about as big as an 18 will take. A 19 will handle 380. I could give the company that did mine a call and get a price from them. There will be a bit of R&D as they will need to make a spacer to mount the callipers to so they would fit over the 380mm disk. But they have the specs because they supply the kit in the link above so all they have to do is make spacers.
