What next?
I'm not thinking of getting rid of my D2 S8 anytime soon but out of interest, where do you go next? It would have to be a 4 door, room in the back for a child seat, 2 tall adults in the front, powerful and circa £7K or less. I'm hoping the price of the 5.0 Jag XF will have dropped by the time I get round to changing but other than that my mind is a blank. After owning 3 Audi's in succession a change might be nice.
Any thoughts or suggestions? |

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions, ski hatch retrofit; extended leather. Aftermarket DVB-T, reversing camera and full XCarlink (Bluetooth etc.). 2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one! Finally: gone, but not forgotten..... 1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors. e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later) 1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer. And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850! |

I'd be looking at D3/4 S8 but keeping the D2 as well

D3 4.2 TDI You won't get a nice one for £7k just yet, but then again you'll be saving loads on fuel

All good answers but I'm desperately trying to think of a non-Audi for the next car.
The problem is that the S8 ticks so many boxes that whatever follows has a lot to live up to. The styling of Audi's from the mid 2000's doesn't really do it for me I'm afraid so I'm not likely to get a newer model of A/S8. |

Over budget, but you get the idea: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...over?logcode=p We got shot of our D2 4.2 QS earlier this year. I too had the "those are big shoes to fill" feeling, but the RR has delivered. They are very nice cars. |

Never got the luxury Land Rover thing. Whats the point it'll never go off road. Buy something with a purpose

I can see this being a possible outcome; Mrs303 loves the idea of having one of those.
I'd be happy letting her have it and pottering about in a MK2 Golf GTI. Until that day comes, I've got an S8 to enjoy |
