Tapping noise under car
My cars developed a curious tapping noise.
It sounds a bit like someone under the car giving it a single tap with a decent hammer. Location would be roughly in line with the back of the engine? It does it under certain circumstances; 1. At low speed when you use the brakes. Just a single tap/ thump. 2. Sometimes when you open the door to get in, before starting. Just one clunk as you open the door. 3. Accelerating or turning a corner. Again, just a single noise each time. It does it pretty much throughout the journey, but never more than one clunk at a time. Anyone had this or got any ideas of the problem? |

1 or 3 I'd say either suspension or maybe an engine/transmission mount... But 2.. not so sure on.

Are you, or have you ever been, a golfer?
Seriously, my old 850 (Volvo, not BM) managed to get (at different times) both golf balls and conkers stuck in the air vent pipework. Never did get the conker out, and it would make a similar one-off clunk. |

Oooh, you don't want a ball stuck in your pipework. Sounds nasty!
Seriously, though, how on earth did the golf balls and conkers get in there?
