Here's the thing.
It is a difficult job, but not impossible. Non-servotronic makes no difference though, other than the replacement part is a little cheaper.
Why not get a quote for a suitably skilled garage/mechanic to do it if you don't have time/space yourself?
Sure, it's gonna cost, but what are you gonna do instead? Buy a replacement car? Unless you buy something reasonably new and still in manufacturer's warranty, who's to say the replacement won't need an equal amount of cash spending on it. In fact, it's almost guaranteed, why else would the previous owner move it on?
So, if you like the car, keep it going, replacing it will only end up costing more.
