Default Need more power

Having owned the S8 for about 2 years now (and my 400bhp scooby is almost finished), I getting the need for more power. I'm thinking 50bhp plus.

Apart from the K&N filter the engine is standard.

What are the options ?
  • I assume an exhaust will free up a few horses but nothing special
  • I'm really loathed to fit NOS to the car, even though I have run it on most cars I have owned over the last 15 years.
  • I have found a lovely supercharger from various places, the MotoDyne looks excellent at $40k
  • An RS4 lump with turbos
  • Or is the top end swappable
Interested in your thoughts but more in things that have been done already.

A popular thread on many 8 forums!

The following has ben done on D2 A/S 8s:
Twin Turbos by a guy in Brazil (I'll post pics when I get home)
Blower by MTM (HOW MUCH! )
N2O Dry shot by a guy on Audiworld (lo BHP allowing ECU to compensate with enrichment)
Free Flo exhaust (either quad conversions or replace stock with baffleless boxes) gives a better pick up on acceleration. No one has yet produced a BHP or torque curve to confirm power increase.
Remap (Mkoneman has done this)

4.2 lump but in an RS 4 I know is running a 100BHP N2O rig. No problems in the 6 months since fitting.

If your N2O savvy then that is probably the cheapest way to go for the extra Gee Gees.

Old topic, but still up to date

I've tried to find info over the internet about RS6 engine conversion. Has it been done, what needs to be changed? is it enough to get only engine and ECU? How much electrical work needs to be done for the wires?

What are the real improvements to the power by doing only the exhaust and filter, any power-curves before and after available?

Any info / knowledge here?
