Output shaft leak
Hi all.
I’ve had the common gearbox output shaft leak on to the cat. I had the seal replaced by a local trusted garage and it still appears to be leaking. There’s a couple of great sticky’s about this issue and I can see there are 2 seals, one for the updated flange and one for the oe version. If an updated seal was fitted to an old/original flange, would it possibly leak? What was actually updated on the flange? Thanks in advance.

The updated seal has an extra lip on it which makes no discernible difference to anything, other than it won't fit with the original flange.
Original flange: needs the original seal Updated flange: works with either seal Was it all cleaned up properly? Could it be residual oil still dripping or is the new seal definitely leaking? The front output flanges can also leak, and while in motion the oil can fly backward and catch the exhaust and cats, although its rare they leak this much. |

Thanks for the reply.
Would the revised seal even fit the old flange or vice versa? Or is it impossible to get them the wrong way around? Thanks again.
