Question Front suspension arms etc.

I knew when I bought my 3.7 that the front wishbones etc needed replacing but they are now actively creaking and groaning a low speeds and over speed bumps etc. I have been using the car for several months now (not always an everyday driver as the fuel costs are astronomical) and it seems to be a great running car, with even the issue of the dashboard lights for the gearbox now not appearing anymore (since I put in a fuse that had been missing - don't know if it had anything to do with it?)

Anyway, quick question, what is recommended for replacing the control arms? I have read about the Meyle kits but they are stupendously expensive for a runaround car and it appears that there will be no stock until the spring. I know I will be shot down for suggesting this, but would something like this be acceptable for average driving for a year or so?

If not, then would anyone be able to recommend a budget set for me? I wouldn't be fitting it myself but a local garage would be able to do it for me.

Thanks,

Jon

Hi just a word of warning some A8 suspension arms are not the same as an A4 so be careful if buying off ebay also cheap is not always best I have seen some bottom arms where the ball joint has come out of the arm so stick to branded parts like Febi, Delphi etc. A local motor factor or Euro Car parts you can use but haggle on price or ask the garage doing the work can you purchase the parts using his trade discount if you don't ask you will never know.

I can get Bilstein parts pretty cheap. If its just one or 2 control arms let me know as I am about to buy some for my A8QS.

The A8 needs
OSF Outer CV boot
NSF lower curved suspension arm (excessive play in ball joint)
NSF lower straight suspension arm (also has excessive play) I was thinking of doing the whole front suspension setup as per Neil as the rest probably isn't far behind. Mike did you say Bilstein and cheap? Any links of where to order? Would like OEM or better. Going to get James to fit them hopefully soon as they are clunking a little now. Just need to get them ordered, was going to do a TPS jobbie bur thought I'd ask here first.

I got a Febi Bilstein set through the Car Club. I no longer have access now I have left the Navy. Cost was approx £325.
