Hello
![]() My '02 S8 Final edition with the suspension destroying 20's needs new track rod ends. Anybody used anything other than originals that they can recommend? Audi are £35 per side for theirs. ![]() |

Duffy,
There are 2 Alternative track rod ends for the FE D2s. VAGCAT throws up a part number of 4B0419811H. Meyle list that part number as 116 020 8228/HD when you search their site by make model and year but don't cross reference it with the VAG part number. GSF car parts can supply Meyle. I have never used Meyle but Botang has and recomends them for his PF A8. Bilstein also do these components for our car but don't have a web presence with as great a granularity as Meyle. I can source these locally but do't know of any national chains of suppliers. Mike |

Thanks for the comprehensive answer on this one!
Euro do original VAG ones for £23 plus the VAt which is a bit more palateable, I'll contact GSF and see what the Meyle come in at though. Regards! |

I used Euro carparts ones, no issue. About £16-17 a side if I recall. Looked good qual and do the job - depends if you let non OEM stuff on the car or not! |

Did this today with the eurocarparts OEM ones at circa £50 for the pair.
Straightforward job and on checking the records the original ones lasted 118k, not a bad effort. The OEM ones are identical (As you'd expect I suppose) and came with new bolts etc. The car feels much better but it's needing tyres and will get tracked immediately thereafter! Thanks! |

small correction to my post - the euro ones subsequently fell apart - and needed replacing. Now using QH from another local parts place... not impressed with the Euro ones

Had the car '4 wheel steered' and some new tyres (Pirelli P Zero's Directionale) put on, it now feels absolutely fantastic!
Every part of the suspension that could be adjusted, needed adjusted and it feels much stabler in a straight line and much more settled over bumps, especially mid corner. £192 to fit the tyres and adjust the suspension but money well spent! |
