KW Variant 2 Coilovers
Currently based in Stockport and need someone to fit my new KW coilovers to the S8, cash and pints would be given in return for the job. I could help with fitting but have no idea what im doing on my own.
Ideally dont want to be paying garage prices so looking for someone who is willing to do as a foreigner. Thanks in advance Adam

Remember jo adjust the Control arms when fittting or they will be worn out pretty fast since lowering will give them new "permanent" positions

Although there may be others on this forum who may disagree, I alway use my local KwikFit for this (Altrincham) who are excellent. They use a Hunter alignment rig on my s8 every 6 months or so (I go over lots of speed bumps and potholes - slowly of course ). Other KF branches may or may not be so good...

Alignment
Anyone with a hunter machine should be good....also check on alignmycar.com.....be warned can still be hit n miss....1 place I went to were excellent but it closed down....the second place had the machine but didn't do camber adjustments....so confirm whether or not they do that first and the relative cost.
You should only need to realign the front though if u are only touch the front suspension

He means loosen the bolts and re-tighten with full weight on suspension so that bushes are locked in stress free position. Other wise they will get twisted too much and can de-laminate or wear out quickly.

Changing to coil overs
Just wanted to add...if you have done suspension work before then this shouldnt be too bad....the only thing to really have to watch out for is the pinch bolts holding the upper arms in place. If this hasnt been touched before then be prepared for a fight....it really is a bugger when it seizes in place. With that in mind I would loosen the hub bolt that holds the outer cv joint in place with the hub. This way if by off chance you have to take the hub out for any reason then at least you dont have to get the car back on the ground to loosen it.
Also have a decent set of spring compressors for when you seperate the shock absorber from the upper subframe. However, if this is your first time at any suspension work I would pay a garage to do it and just not go out for a weekend or two....sitting inside in the warm watching tv will be far more satisfying than doing this as a novice.
