Really - I thought it was a EU requirement that the car can be serviced without "special" tools - hence there is a (often obscure) way of doing resetting the light to address that.....
http://resetservicelight.com/ for example, google is your friend! Or if you are in the trade, do you not have autodata or similar? I have only used these methods for non-VAG cars as I have VCDS, but when I have worked on other cars never struggled to clear the light without plugging in - although for some it was a right faf |

I don't mean to sound abrupt but if you are no longer franchised and hence don't have direct access to manufacturers data, you will probably need to look at a 3rd party alternative to get access else will you just guess?

The technicians aren't leaving. So it the same people servicing the same cars. Repairs will be as and when.
