Have just picked up an OBD2 Super VAG K+CAN reader. Should have it by the end of the week
Will plug it in and see what comes up

Some of these generic scanners will only read the engine ECU, make sure the scanner you have purchased can read the others as well. Usually why recommend VCDS, yes it costs more but it can do a whole lot more than the read only devices.
