the car will also compensate by advancing your ignition timing
EC'U does not advance ignition above map values,it only retards if it detects knock so if it was not retarded because of knocking it will not be more advanced. I drive V Power and it never retards but I have seen friends 3.7 retarding heavily on crap batch of supermarket fuel. Most of the time with decent quality 95 it rarely retards at WOT and not by much.

sorry my fault for not putting that in the right context,

what i mean is if you have been running on a poor quality fuel then the car will compensate when on E85 by advancing your ignition timing, and of course that then will restore the factory map

of course if he were to have a re-map on the other hand then the ignition can be advanced and gain more hp that a simple remap to 95 or indeed 98 only if you are brave and know that you will only run 102 ron from then on for example

So. "Finally" the tank was close to Empty.

I filled her back up with 98 octane yesterday

I managed 410 kilomters on 82.6 liters of 50/50 Mixture.
DIS stated a fuel consumption of 19.6 Liters pr 100 km.On 98 it usually shows 15 liters on the DIS pr 100 km) So that is apx a 30% increase in fuel consumption so i cant see that it has been running lean regarding E85 needs 30% more(?)

There was no problems at all during this tryout.

regarding power i am really unsure... It kinda felt like it was missing some power from time to time but i might be just me paying to much attention to how the car was reacting on the mixture.

But the car is def conpensating for the E85 in some way. Still the DIS is showing 17.5 liters pr 100 km now, buts its dropping slowly(was reset when filled up yesterday)

When we get E85 pumps closer then 20 miles from where i live i will try again. Now its gonna be hard to always have a good mixture of E85/98 without good planing.

Checked for faultcodes today and it showed Fuel bank trim 1 and 2 running to lean.

Not sure if this code appeared during my E85 test or the fact that the car has run out of fuel twice the last few days cause of a fuel gauge error.

Willy do another E85 test just for verification

You should expect mpg to drop not to increase.

All 95 ron fuel has around 5% in it (UK). Most super / Vmax / Tesco super has it to, in order to boost octane, the exception being BP Ultimate and one or two other 98s. The cost of it is MPGs and in some cars deterioration due to the corrosive effect of ethanol but as cumulative is hard to pin down other than in classics.

Reason is EU directive on using bios in fossils to cut down reliance on latter.. Previously just added to diesel as easy to mix but now added to petrol.

Ethanol lowers MPGs given it combusts with different gases & quantities to petrol, so effects O2 sensor readings and consequent fueling.
