many thanks for the info, as I say, I shall be checking this gen out.
Any chance it could be the "antenna" on the ignition switch, as it normally behaves itself just after the battery has been charged and re connected.

Dear All,
further to my poorly 8 woes.
I have an Autel CAN SCAN model 405, this has read the following codes:
Firstly from the ECU

18058-035 KWP1281
POWERTRAIN DATA BUS: missing message from instrument cluster P1650
POWER SUPPLY - Terminal 30 -voltage too low P1602

From the ABS scan:
01203 -031 01/01 KWP1281
Electrical connection between ABS + instrument cluster

Any thoughts would be welcome, I have obviously goggled these codes, and read posters notes.
I have never had the ABS light come on, or beeps from dash.
This makes me think the code may be residual, although I believe I did clear the codes on purchase of the Autel unit.

I missed the dead cluster bit in the post. I'd pop the cluster out (procedure is on audipages.com) and check the connections on the back, but it's sounding like your cluster may be dead

You did check all the fuses as well?

Many thanks for your reply and thoughts, (as costly as they sound!!)
I haven't checked the fuses, as, the other day I took the new battery off charge, after experiencing the same problem, reconnected the battery, switched on, after a couple of cranks, the clocks lit up, and then the car ran. A few moments later I had a full complement of gauges also.
I am wondering if the New battery might be suspect, as I noted that when I connected the charger, the ammeter on the charger showed 0 amps.
I think a little more research is required.
This will be done as the white stuff abates!!!!
I did read somewhere about "telling" the car it has a new battery, which was never done(through my potential ignorance!!)

I don't think the D2 needs to be told about new batteries, just the D3. The white stuff doesn't help, but if the engine will turn, it sounds like there may be enough power there, certainly enough to light the dash.

Dear Gentlefolk,
I trust all have had a Merry Christmas??
Further to my aforementioned woes, I have, today lifted the leads from the battery, and, using a heavy duty jump lead, connected the two car terminals together, for over 15 seconds, then re connected the battery-the Result?? My 3.7 cranked, fired and continued to run.
I have to say, that this may be a red herring, but I have read somewhere that occasionally this works. Clearly, I'm hoping this is the case!!
Initially the gauges did not respond, but once the backlight on the cluster had lit, and the clock/calendar had started to show, my boy was away.
I will be checking for water ingress very shortly, and will keep all here posted.
