We went up some really steep unsalted hills last night, some compacted snow and some fresh and not yet driven on. The A8 exceeded expectations. We did the same thing last year with pretty old but M&S marked tyres, this year with 6 month old modern summer tyres which are like slicks with just 4 wide circumfrential grooves, so I was a bit nervous that they would be like sledge runners, but the A8 seemed to take it in it's stride without even breaking traction on any wheel unless it was deliberately invoked, just like driving on carpet really. I would be confident in much worse conditions such as in the Pennines now.

According to the weather reports we had about 3cm to 5cm of snow in our area.
Yeah, right!
I think someone is getting confused between inches and centimetres, I measured a flat undisturbed area of our patio at 6" deep!
(the S8 on the right had been out and about in the middle of it all)

2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

I think I was unintentionally ploughing when I went out Saturday morning, I took this when I reached my destination which is a 1,000 feet above sea level.

I've only got Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres on but there wasn't a single bit of drama or concern, and I was driving on some roads that hadn't seen a plough or even traffic at that time in the morning.
