I have said something like this before, this IMHO is the best forum for the way that members jump in with help and guidance. The comradeship is almost military with the closeness perceived. Hope that that comes out the way I mean it. Suffice it to say that you guys give me the confidence to tackle jobs that seem insurmountable at first.
Finally, mainly due to this thread, I have fitted the DRLs that I purchased last year, and told my beautiful 2004 D3 3.0 TDI that she is no longer Canadian and is again British. I took out the fog grills, attacked them with the dreaded dremel (from the rear so the damage does not show) fitted the lights, wired them in and now we have dimming DRLs.
OK, not for everyone, but I do my stuff for me. Sorry if that sounds hard. What I mean is that I like to be nonstandard and I like what I like. After all I am in my 76th year and am allowed to be a grumpy old man
I will have to drop the front bumper now to lay the new wiring properly.

Hi Marcin, this is the part number of my near side grille, the offside one isn't visible because it's covered in mastic where someone has broken the clips and tried to attach it

Apologies for the multiple post but the iPad won't let me attach more than one photo.

This is the near side again, the offside is fouled by mastic, another reason I need new grilles

I did notice two "inserts" on the near side that don't exist on the offside, and there's nothing on the grille that would slot into these

Cheers Ron, appreciated

So, looks like Audi decided to revise the bumper, but they forgot to revise the fog grills, unless there is a revised version of grills but no note on etka to let parts guys know?!?!? I don't know.

I'm going to Audi on Tuesday to see what they can do, nothing knowing them.
I'm thinking how Audi guys would takle it if they were working on a front damaged S8 and got them parts?? Broke the pins or do the small cuts in the bumper.... or Say that it's impossible

If there is no revised grill, or a bumper with holes then I'll be cutting little slots in then bumper for flat pubs pins to slot in.

Del also noticed area where the fogs are fitted to be slightly different so I'll have to look into it as soon I have them in hand.

Here is the fog light area which you can see is different even if my bumper is the one which should fit Del's and Ron's cars with no problems

I'm pretty sure this black blank plate needs to be removed before fitting the fog light, hopefully the position of screw holes didn't change.

Quick update
Picked up both fog lights today from ECP.
Part number for the fogs is from the A6 (4F), but if you want to buy them and you give Audi S8 number plate then they will charge you £130 +VAT. If you go there to buy same fogs, same part number, but using A6 number plate then they will charge you only £100 +VAT.

The ones from ECP are £50 inc. VAT on collection or delivered as delivery is free over £40.

Ron mentioned that they have a better seal than OEM hence I decided to go with them and it just makes sense to have new fogs with the new front.

So far they look like they fit very well as they should, haven't tried it with the grills on yet as this is still hanging in the air and I'll be talking to Audi tomorrow asking basically what is it?? Have you revised the bumper construction slightly, but forgot to revised other related components at the same time ????

And that black plastic where the fogs go, you dont remove that, this is where the fog light sits.

Quick update.

I went to Audi this morning and there is a note in ETKA that on some S8 them two lugs in question needs to be removed.
So that clears the whole confusion at least.
I think I will do the little cuts in bumper and keep the lugs instead of cutting them off.

There's a whole s8 front end brand new on eBay with grills, bumper, front grill everything by looks of it.

Now would that fit into my car? It's a facelift bumper.

I have front parking sensors but I imagine I could drill correct size holes and fit them in.

Yes and no need to drill anything.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

UPDATE.

The wings do need trimming a little, but not only its a 3min job but also Audi gives you a template with new bumper.

So that and lugs on fog grills which need removing is the only thing you have to do to fit a S8 bumper on standard A8.

Tomorrow car is going for the front end respray and some other bits so final result expected by the the end of the week.

So with discounts and alternative fogs the cost of this sort of upgrade is just over £1k inc. bumper respray which is more less £200 on it's own.

Thanks for everyones help and input once again
