That's OK then. I misunderstood because you said you are going to try moondust silver and that he stripped tyres off so I though he just took old ones off and disposed

Yes he did that on a quick "passing by" no-charge visit yesterday and will come back to do the full job once I've cleaned up the wheels. I guess I wasn't totally clear in my explanation.

I gave him a tenner (which he didn't want) as he stripped 5 wheels and is disposing of 5 tyres (and making an extra trip here) whereas he'll only be fitting 4 when he comes back. Only based 3 miles away so I'm a convenient "fill in" job as I work from home so am usually here.

I'm going to clean up all 5 and decide on the best 4 when they're finished.
Scraped off the bubbly lacquer, did a bit of metal bashing on a small dent in one rim, filed down and polished out some kerbing scrapes and applied primer where required today.
Rub down and paint tomorrow if the weather is good and lacquer the next day or Friday.

I've finished the centre caps today and the colour match is very good. Moondust Silver has a slight sparkle in the sun, not sure what is in it to do that but it's effective.

I've taken a "before" picture from the side and will post it and the "after" in a week or two when the job's all done.

Well, I can't say for sure, but based on the research I've done for my S8 I'd say they should be.
They will presumably be a bit smaller so the speedo will overread.
My standard tyre is 245/45R18 on an 8J wheel, those are about 3% smaller.
(I've gone for 225/55R17 7.5J winters which are almost exactly the same diameter as 245/45R18)

The offset is a few mm less then the standard wheels so they will sit slightly further out, but as they're narrower the outer face will be in almost exactly the same place.

What wheels/tyres do you have on now and what design/origin are these?

Would need to check the wheel clears the brakes on the front - if there's any dish to the wheel it probably won't clear

No good mate, the 45 is a percentage of the width so 215 is not wide enough for 45 to be high enough on the sidewall.

I had 225 40 18 on mine when i bought it and not only did the speedo tell lies i cracked 2 alloys one of them twice, since changing them for 245 45 18 i have had no cracks. Same roads too.

Theer is a tyre size calc tool posted here tha'll give you how far out they'll be.

And another one I've used: http://www.tyres-pneus-online.co.uk/...ce-advice.html

PS Fitted my winter tyres on my little car (Focus) today; will probably do the S8 later this week.
