If that was a plug for a business, well, the products are grossly overpriced, in fact ludicrously expensive....

Much better and cheaper alternatives out there, its something I had previously been looking into.....

With the exclusion of our spam-happy contributor a page back, can anyone recommend a quality HID upgrade kit for the front fogs on my FL D2 S8?

Don't mind if it's ebay or another source, so long as the kit is ready to install with no messing about!

Should it be possible to fit a front fog kit just by removing the fog plastic surrounds or will the bumper have to come off completely to get to somewhere to mount the ballasts?

I've never taken the bumper off myself and after getting my headlight washers fixed properly I'm not keen on disturbing it!

Adrian

You should be able to get to somewhere to mount the ballasts without removing the bumper. At worst, you can mount it on the cross-member below the headlights (that's where I put the one for my dip beam conversion)

You can remove fogs without removing bumper, no problem.

I bought these. $32 shipped. Still works perfect after 3 weeks

Anyone see a reason not to go with these ones?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/H11-Canbus...item56351d2deb

They're in the UK so no messing about with shipping from abroad....

No picture of the wiring loom, but even the 'decent' looking ones have a couple of crimp terminals to fit into the old plug! Not sure if heatshrink is available with sufficient shrink to cover the entire assembly to keep the plug water tight?

The picture in this listing from the same company suggests they're not bad quality

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/H11-35w-UL...item3355848f58

They also do a 50W kit, but that strikes me as overkill?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/H11-50w-Di...item4148d91a19

Not sure if the S8 from our era needs the can-bus friendly ones or if the system isn't sophisticated enough?

Do any of these trigger bulb failurenwarnings on the DIS? Because I'm looking to get a 35W 3000k kit for my foglamps.

That's exactly what I'm wondering ref the can-bus diagnostic self check. I suspect the D2 will be happy to find there's a completed circuit there with the lights on, rather than thinking it's an odd value it's receiving. But since the can friendly setups aren't that much more expensive I'm trying to decide whether to go for the cautious option or if I'm just giving myself more components to fail at a later date......

Tempted to 6000K, which I think is a little whiter than OEM bi-xenons?

Been a while since I delved into D2 wiring, but I cant for the life in me remember ever, ever (i mean, ever) seeing any errors for front fogs, yet I know I've seen cars with all manner of broken ones - I'd thus be very very surprised if they are even checked - They're not a mandatory safety requirement like Brakes and headlights and sidelights which do come up on the DIS..

Drop a fog light bulb out altogether, I'm thinking theres a good chance that it wont bat an eyelid.

If thats the case, replace it with pretty much anything you fancy, and as long as it doesnt draw more current than the old bulb blowing the fuse, you should be on a winner...

The reason I'm wondering if the non-CAN HID kits will trigger foglamp warning, is because on one of my previous cars, a 2002 Audi A4 Avant Quattro, I did get foglamp warning, when my front bumper was painted to get rid of stone chips, and one of the foglamps wasn't connected.

DIS showed the bulb symbol, and defective driver's foglamp.
