I've got a 255/35/20 on a 9'' rim and tyre isn't stretched, it sits beautifully, and combined with lowered suspension it offers very very nice handling

So, I suspect a electronic fault as well, now it could be as simple as even loose connection or wiring issue on a abs sensor or possibly steering angle sensor.

Hard to say, but will have the car over the weekend.
Yesterday's test drive confused me completely for the first time, 2 hours drive with various tests and nothing until going over the bumpy rail track when all warning lights just came on straight away.

18265 - Load Signal
P1857 - 000 - Error Message from ECU - Intermittent
ABS ECU says it's defective by itself. So that would probably be first on the list.

I believe on D3 this comes on ABS pump.

On lot of cars they fail because of dry solder joints. I have recently repaired one by cutting it open and re-soldering joints on Volvo.

Never done on D3, just done it once on friends Volvo, his had failed and garage wanted silly money to replace pump with control unit so I gave it a go and it worked.

I just re-soldered the big joints that usually crack with regular soldering iron. The ones for plug, solenoid coils, FET's etc.

OK...thanks for the tip mate.

It could actually make sense.
I even found by mistake a company in USA (they've got obviously much more A8s so the bigger market) and they were specialising in reflows/reballs of D3s ABS ECUs. It could probably be that the big joints were failing but they were making from it a much bigger job, re-soldering the whole board, just to charge more.
Their service was 300bucks.

Hmmmm.....

I agree with ainarssems, it's a steering angle sensor error code, not a brake pedal sensor or ABS sensor error code. I think you need to do basic settings with VCDS. The instructions are probably on the rosstech site or ELSAWIN.

I haven't got any update for you guys, but help was and is still very much appreciated.

Instead of doing some work we've spend all the time on mastering the Carbon interior on my car....and then we've had a Jack.....so Sunday was a pretty rough day.

As soon I know anything I will update this page.

Once again Thank You guys.
