It's not the getting it out that matters, let's see if the mariner can get it back in and working

An RS6 lump would fit nicely. Have you seen the size of the steam hammers a Royal Navy dockyard has!

Be careful Mike, or you'll be all at sea

Been resisting using that line for ages, but couldn't hold it in any longer.

My ability to ramble on is only exceeded by my inability to know when I'm outclassed, beaten, out of my depth, lost, bumbling about in the dark or up a creek without a paddle......or a canoe............or a creek. At time like this, alternative mental states are useful. I'm not talking Schizophrenia here (yes I am, so am I, I'm not and neither are they). I'm talking unadulterated madness. Remember the canoe? Well the boating creek attendant has just asked me for a shilling and I'm a few pence short. My lunch box is missing a couple of sandwiches, none of my crayons have a point, my bat population is being culled, my village has three wells. I could go on, but I already did. What's brought this about? Well this has.......

Can't see anything wrong with that? Well consider this. When you reach the summit and are looking forward to the down hill, stepping off a cliff and plunging for the rest of your life tends to send you over the edge (see a pun!)
What's wrong with the above photo is this:

This came out of that engine bay and it is what you look like when you've plunged for the rest of your life (that's just a few seconds when you step of a cliff).

When you look at it you realised that you're mad, or need to be. But it's now in the boot and it will stay there until I recover enough from having to use the side cutters on it 3 times to get it out............

So; is there any good news? Errrr, Hmmmmm, Ooooo, errrrrr, welllllllllllll, yes there is. My control arms arrived in their nice bilstein box.

The lower arms you see are also used to demonstrate the state of the ball joints in this bit of video. The ball joint on the worn arm was moving in all three plains! All 8 arms and the anti-roll bar connectors cost £370 delivered. I can get that price again ifanyone is interested.

But I have progressed and here are the gratuitous photos for reference:

But I am on the downhill now, the block and tranny are parted :

And the ancillaries are swapped over. All torque settings are being double checked, the torque converter is off (that was fun) and refitted to the tranny.

By the end of the day it looked like this:

Next is soldering the loom plugs to connect the cuts and polishing out the engine bay and that tranny. yes I am mad, or will be! Muhahahaha.

As always, the disclaimer:
During the making of this infomercial just about every moral code and civilised covenant was broken and boy was it fun.

The truth is out there.

Truth, TRUTH, YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!

I'll be back................................
