Ian,
Thanks for the reply- I've heard back from Streetwise and it is the linkage which goes to the valve which has failed. Part 4DO 616241A. And about an hour labour. So not a big job. Audi apparently want £60 for this part- You wouldn't happen to have any lying around would you? Will give you a ring in the morning anyway. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures yesterday as I was in a bit of a tiz getting it home, then parked it on a hill so the effect would be lost! I can assure you though that it was a proper handful to drive! Regretting lack of pics though Mitch has now re-set the suspension at the correct level. I assume it's worthwhile keeping the self-levelling function? He did offer to put a bolt in the valve which would hold it at the current level, but without the automatic levelling. |

You might want to tow one day, or LPG convert, in which case you wont suffer rear end sag like the rest of us Plus, there is the smug factor knowing your car has one of the rarest factory options every fitted in the UK....

Agreed!
£60 is cheap. To give you an idea, my CL600 Mercedes had ABC suspension which was the fluid filled stuff. And the valve went and jacked up the rear. That cost £1500 plus labour. Then 2 shocks failed, £2100 plus labour later. So cheap really!!! |

I've asked Streetwise to do it today... May as well retain the function, I don't like the idea of bodging valves for the sake of £100. |

All sorted now. I did ask them to keep hold of the failed part, and yes, I can confirm that £60 is a ripoff for such a small part!
However, it seems to be working OK, touch wood. Fancy a set of Sport springs though. |
