Was never standard as far as I'm aware.. Unless it's in late D3s/D4s.

It was known as the advanced key option IIRC and was never available on D2s.

there seem to be 2 levels available with Audi these days -
Keyless go - still need to plip the plipper to unlock doors but press a start button when you're in the car with no need to put keys in a slot
and
Advanced key which adds keyless entry and exit to access the car in addition to the keyless go.

I went to a Audi electrician and according to him i need to replace the kessy module. Now, i have found a few on eBay second hand of course but this guy, the electrician, says it has to be new cause needs to be coded only at Audi dealer online with VAS. He also said that it needs to be checked the steering column (immobilizer) cause on early D3 models like mine 2004 is possible that this 2 has to be synchronized as well.

So, if someone had this problem with keyless before would be highly appreciate any advise.

I have errors on all 5 antennas on VCDS and keyless. When i clear the errors it only works one time until i start the engine. After this all doors buttons goes dead. Remote control works without any problems.

Now, i am thinking since works even one time before i start the engine how the module is fried or whatever. If was totally dead then would not work at all .

On eBay price is 100-150 euro and new is around 600 euro.

IT could be the module.. My 2003 had a similar problem where the ignition had issues due to water getting in.

Sometimes they need to re-code the steering column, but not always. and yes, if it's a used part you will need an Audi dealer to remove the component protection.

I just got this off the ross-tech website.

Kessy Control Module Swapping

Prerequisites:
The NEW module is installed in the car.
ORIGINAL Electric Steering Lock is still installed.
If the ORIGINAL Electric Steering Lock has been replaced, perform Electric Steering Lock Adaptation first.
Battery voltage at least 12.0 V. We strongly recommend the use of a battery charger.
Make sure to have BOTH PIN's, from the OLD (ORIGINAL) and the NEW (USED) control module.

Put the first Key into the ignition Lock, but do NOT switch ON the ignition.
Press and Hold the Brake Pedal for 20 Seconds to wake up the Diagnostic Databus.

[Select]
[05 - Acc/Start Auth.]
[Meas. Blocks - 08]
Select Block 024.
[Go!]
Make sure the shown lock times in field 1, 2, 3 and 4 are 0 (each field represents a time in minutes).
If the lock times are NOT 0:
Do NOT switch off the ignition!
Allow the car to sit for AT LEAST the number of minutes that were indicated by the fields 1-4.
[Done, Go Back]

[Sec. Access - 16]
For the following procedure, use the PIN of the NEW (USED) control module.
4-digit PIN
Enter zero followed by the 4-digit PIN. For example, if your PIN is 1234, enter 01234.
[Do it!]

[Adaptation - 10]
Enter 050 in "Channel Number".
[Read]
For the following procedure, use the PIN of the OLD (ORIGINAL) control module.
4-digit PIN
Enter zero followed by the 4-digit PIN. For example, if your PIN is 1234, enter 01234.
[Test]
[Save]
[Done, Go Back]
After a successful adaptation a lock time will automatically be set.
[Meas. Blocks - 08]
Select Block 024.
[Go!]
Make sure the shown lock time in field 4 is 0 (a field represents a time in minutes).
If the lock time is NOT 0:
Do NOT switch off the ignition!
Allow the car to sit for AT LEAST the number of minutes that were indicated by field 4.
[Done, Go Back]
[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]

Switch OFF the ignition and let the car sit for ~1 minute, then switch ON the ignition again.
Verify that the NEW (USED) control module now shows the VIN/IMMO-ID of the vehicle now.

Proceed with Key Matching now.

So, in other words Audi can match 2 different components second hand like Kessy module with steering column from two different cars on my car. Of course the second hand parts provided from other W12 or matching code.
