before you buy the tow bar give David or Carl a call at A8 Parts and just check that they don't have a second hand one in stock as you'll get good discount on the day for coming along
Just for reference, if you do decide to pick up one at the meet, it will just about fit in the boot

Would be good to see you there, especially with another 8!
You'll find this forum very different from many others, maximum payment is likely to be buying a drink to say thanks lol

I'm not 100% sure there is any coding to do on the towbar..... I fitted one to the Q7 and with right kits its stupidly simple, and I never coded anything...

+12, ground and canbus pair. Thats it. It reads all the signals etc off the canbus and should feed back onto the canbus when the electrical connector is being used so the suspension locks its height.....

Still, if there were any coding to do, Im sure theres plenty of folks would lend a hand

If it's the official one, it should need coded in.

A8Tony's failed and wouldn't drop out of tow mode, so we had to code it out before suspension would drop.

From what others have said you may well be able to drive it without coding etc, it may just affect the ride height ie. the suspension probably won't rise up a bit as it detects the tow bar is being used when the electrics are connected up

The ride height is pretty clever - There is a microswitch inside the socket of the wiring kit that detects when a trailer socket is plugged in - This is what should fix the ride height, so normally with no trailer attached it works as normal.....

Me new to forum.
I think mine is a D3 which I got 3 weeks ago.
It's a 4.2 petrol 06 model.
I've been trying to get a tow bar fitted but Audi don't have any??????

Maybe a good job as they cost so much!! (£1500.0+)

So - I've read as many posts as I can about tow bars and would be happy to get the West Falia one and fit it myself, my only sticky bit is the electronics and how to get it coded. I see that Audi do it for about £100 but I could use that to offset the cost of a vcds reader and cable. Can you point me to the correct codes to use for coding the towbar? I've never done any work on an ecu before so I'm quite green on this.
I was going to go to PFJ for the tow bar

BTW., any Audi meetings in Scotland?
