Favourite roads
OK, so we all live in our own parts of this beautiful Isle.
so for those of us visiting 'your' area, what roads are worth a blast! I'll go first I live in Accrington, Lancashire my route would be accy to Whalley, follow signs for Mitton, head out to Trough of Bowland.(details to be added), then either through the Trough(follow 1) or head out via Slaidburn to Settle(2), (1) take road through Trough up to Lancaster, as you drop out of teh countryside follow signs for Bentham, then out up to Settle(see (2) ) (2)then out over ribblehead to Hawes(watch teh road, its very deceptive!!!! ( 120mph 3ft off teh ground on my old Thundercat tells me so.... )), Brew at the Cafe or food at teh Pub both excellent last time I was out there. then head over to Sedburgh, and off into teh Lake District. Lake district, my fav route is Windermere for a brew/food, over the ferry to Hawkshead, then as you leave follow signs for Coniston and Tarn Howes. keep following Tarn Howes(single track road) , its a 20mph road that will BLOW you away with scenery..... as you drop out, follow Ambleside, cracking road , lots of lovely open fast twistys. at ambleside choice of heading up to Keswick or back down to Windermere...

When you do the Bentham bit you drive about 2 miles away from where I live
I love the roads around here. The Road from High Bentham over to the A65 A56 from the M65 Jnc 8 across the hills to Rochdale.. B6232 - thats awesome My scenic route to the office - around Settle / Giggleswick / Long Preston ..I could go on but there are toooo many roads up here. We should hook up somewhere if you are passing again

Some of my faves...
A702 from the M74 heading towards Dumfries (south of Abington services). You're driving along the hillside in the valley with some lovely scenery and windy bits. Far too many roads when you get more North than me  Loved the Fort WIlliam to Skye road (toasted a little Alfa V6 thingy).

The "Wee mad road"
 Probably the scariest road you'll ever drive in a big car, but well worth it. This unusual web site might give you a "feeling": http://www.theweemadroad.com/ watch the video, the middle of which is a short drive along the WMR in a "normal" car. Note especially the road humps (sheep that DO NOT move) and the unforgiving stone walls. Thought the wee mad road looked familiar.. We stayed at a cottage pretty much at the end of the video for a week. It's just off the main road near Ullapool, as the crow flies, about 5 miles to the cottage.. via the road, about 45 minutes

I would like to recommend a nice road if you willing to travel to Romania.
Named "Transfagarasan" Official this road is open to public between July 1st and October 31st with traffic restrictions during the night between 21.00 and 07.00 hours. Some people say this is much nicer than Stelvio Pass crossing the Alps from Switzerland to Italy. This road is build over the chain mountains in Romania called Carpathians Meridionali with peak level at 2042m. This is the second highest road in Romania after Transalpina road at 2145m open to public in 2010. Build in 1970-1974 by Nicolae Ceausescu. Many soldiers and workers has died during the constructions. Official they say 40, but workers still alive says hundreds. Road is very dangerous with many curves and speed limit is set to 40km/h.
