Engine Movement
Once I fitted the intake manifold links a few weeks back, I filmed the start up and engine revs etc to see how they worked.
(See here for a full explanation on the variable intake system and what happened to my linkages -> http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthrea...6047#post36047) After watching it a few times, I realised that the engine does not 'torque' or twist on start up or revving, no matter how hard she revs. That is, it doesn't move at all! So, a dumb but simple question, what does your car do on start up and revving? Does it kick, twist, move at all? For reference - 2003 4.2 V8 petrol. I know that our cars have special torque and engine mounts and I'm learning about them ATM.

My 2003 4.2 doesn't really move.. Maybe the whole car if you rev it hard then let off quickly when stationary, but not an awful lot. Certainly less than a lot of cars I've seen.

Thanks for the reply.
Does it move at all though? Are we talking mm or cm's of movement? Mine barely moves a mm. (I set up a benchmark to measure it that was independant of the car.)

I'd put the movement of the car body at mm... Enough to notice something move, but not enough to think there's a problem. Engine movement is negligible.

Ah, phew, thanks. I thought my mounts might have been shot!
