No still no joy. I think I am going to have to get it plugged in at Audi

I haven't got access to a VCDS which isn't broken. Will get it booked in for a few weeks away.

I have replaced the boost sensor (in the n/s intercooler) and the brake light switch ( just in case it was the cause of the fault) to no avail.

Knowing my luck it'll be something which is the most expensive part in the Audi catalogue!!! pmsl!

If you want someone fairly local to you that doesn't charge Audi rates, could try camspec in Crawley - they get good reports on fault finding and are friendly and keen

They've got audi trained techs, incl an r8 master tech, and I've been impressed - have also heard they're taking a lot of local business from established names

OK Guys, quick update for you..... And a question...

I went out in the car today, and the car came up with " Particle Filter - See Owners Manual"

Is this the cat/DPF??? If so could this be the cause of all my grief??? Is it possible it would cause the above symptoms???

Also, does it have 1 cat or 2? 1 DPF or 2????

DPF is diesel particulate filter and it could be the cause of the problems.

I think it has 1 pre-cat, 1 DPF and 1 cat.

If You only drive short distances around town DPF does not get chance to recover. Drive around 15 miles on open road to get everything warmed up then switch to lower gear and drive another 5 miles keeping engine 3500-4000rpm. This should regenerate DPF. If not see dealer or specialist they might be able to reset and regenerate it but chances are it is really faulty in which case best solution is probably to cut it out and delete function from ECU as they are over £1100 from dealer.

Yes that is a DPF. Needs driving hard to try and clear it or use VCDS to do an emergency regeneration.

Or if it is knackered, let me know as you can chop it out and I can program it out.

Obviously read the Drivers Manual FIRST to see what it advises, but this looks relevant:
http://www.askthemechanic.co.uk/makes/audi.html and says:

DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER WARNING LIGHT ON?
If the DPF light is the only warning light on, you should drive vehicle at over 2000 rpm (to raise exhaust temperature) for 20 minutes without delay, this should regenerate the particulate filter (burn off the accumulated soot) and the light should go out.
If you have DPF light and the engine management light are on together, have vehicle towed to dealer. The dealer will be able to make the vehicle, with the aid of diagnostic equipment go into forced regeneration and clear filter. Don't run vehicles with diesel particulate filters on 100% bio-diesel only use EN 590. Only use low ash engine oil (VW 507 00).

Where are you? I can't remember lol

How much would you want to program it out if I gutted the DPF??? I think it's gone beyond regeneration, it's not even driveable.

£1116.00 is not a very appealing price for a new one
