Default Possible transmission leak

Not posted in rather a while, but guess that's lucky as means I haven't had many issues!

Car has been parked up for approximately 4 weeks and has a huge pool of fluid under it. Doesnt appear to be from the engine as is slightly further back. Have looked on here and could be the 'output seal's
If leaking fluid would it also make gear changes lumpier than usual?

Can anyone recommend anywhere near Bristol to get it looked at

Many thanks

Lee

Could be three things if its not engine oil - in order of highest probability:
  1. Power Steering fluid - greenish brown, no specific smell
  2. Gear oil - dark brown, very pungent smell
  3. ATF - light brown to grey, slightly fishy smell

Only ATF could cause lumpy changes, and its rare for that to leak in significant quantities.

  4. Urine - yellow colour, smells of pee, don't lick it

The output seal tends to be a very slow drip, as opposed to the 'pool' you have. I'd check using MJs list and go from there. If possible, try and check the underside of the car to see if there's an obvious location for the leak.

I'd agree with the others. I've had a leaky output seal and that drips onto the cats, I wouldn't think you'd have a pool from it though.

Any chance it's a drain from the scuttle or A/C? These can leave a lot of water pooling on the ground behind the engine.
