Last night was another Barcelona Directors for me but this was all of them and wives/ladies and others. The President insisted on sitting in my jockey seat.
We were under Police escort from the Hilton to the ground and after the match a high speed escort to Liverpool Airport. Bit crazy ignoring speed limits and traffic lights, but nothing new for yours truly.
Wet view of Barcelona Team coach from my driving seat.

Not directed at you Ray, but isn't it ridiculous that a bus load of football directors can break the speed limit and traffic regulations, and all with the help of those who are supposed to enforce such things.

Sean, you are quite correct with your observation, but it was organised assuming that Liverpool would lose and we needed to be away sharpish. In the end it was an unexpectedly quiet night after the match and I did not see any problems. I have seen and been involved in some terrible scenes after football matches. Bricks through windows are quite a norm, and I was once shot at on the East Lancs coming out of Manchester, luckily no injuries just a holed side window. The police on that one just kept going. And don't start me on things like the Miner's strikes, various French strikes and of course getting tour coaches out of Yugoslavia when that kicked off.

The convoy last night was not only me:
  1. Motorcycle outriders
  2. Team coach. A 15 metere like I reported on a couple of weeks back
  3. Vito with Barcelona camera crews
  4. Luggage van with team gear.
  5. Yours truly in a 30 seat Irizar diner coach
  6. 16 seater minibus with special hangers on
  7. Police van with riot crew on board.
On arrival at John Lennon we all went in the bus entrance but the three buses had to peel off into the security area.
All went well until all the pax had departed because then the airport security staff told us we had to reverse out of the security area. Not enough space to drive through. Really good planning. While the airport police were milling about making plans I just did it and buggered off home.

Within the context of what you've described above, I can now understand the logic behind it (and the other instances that you refer to)... I just don't understand society today, if that is what the human race has descended to.

Today's Office should be "Five Days".
I am currently doing a five day tour at Thoresby Hall Hotel, one of the Warner's Hotels, adults only which usually means older folk like myself. Today is actually a day off for myself so I am able to partake of the facilities as if I was a true holidaymaker.
I mentioned the adults only because though in most areas it would make a pretty good base for an Annual Meet it would not suit us completely, we are family based.
On the way here Monday I drove over the Cat & Fiddle and stopped at Bakewell for a two hour lunch.
Tuesday I took them to Lincoln.
Wednesday Grantham and Newark had the pleasure.
Tomorrow, Friday, I'll be having a lunch break at Buxton on the way home.

Very nice

I headed over that way when I was desperately looking for venues for last years' annual meet but I stopped about 10 miles short of where you are now to check out Bolsover Castle, which is a nice place to visit if you have the time. I dismissed it as an annual meet venue because (like so many other potential venues I visited) they're weren't prepared to let us park inside the grounds, plus I thought it was a little too far out. Thankfully Biggin and Tissington were more accommodating.

Arrived back home last night safe and well.
I spent most of last weekend washing, polishing and generally nursing my 8 into shape for the Annual Meet. She was looking rather nice. Glistening in the sun.
Then my sad. Whilst away I left her at the coach garage and realised on my return yesterday that it was not a good move. Someone (I know who the culprit is) decided to jet wash the yard. My beautifully prepared 8 was covered in dried dirt from the spray.
I've just spent all morning washing, drying and repolishing her. She is looking good again.
During last year's preparation period various polishes and other products were mentioned, one being "Pearl Black" so that is what I used today.
  1. Does it work . . . Yes
  2. Is it easy . . . . . Yes
BUT, though looking nice and shiny Pearl Black has not made my car any blacker than she was before I started.

For a really easy to use option, we sometimes wash the cars off (usual wash mitt and 2 bucket method with wheel fallout remover) and dry them with double layer drying towel, then use a spry on product called "Done & Dusted - Si Edition" which you mist on, spread, then wait 10-15 seconds for curing, and then lightly glide a MF cloth over with almost zero pressure, and youre left with an ultra smooth velvety finish. Glossy as heck, smooth as heck and more importantly, its the easiest Quick Detailer to work with. It seems to feature both some fillers to cover any small blemishes, plus a fantastic amount of gloss shine. My detailer Mark (Marque 2 Pro) who several of you met at meets, was so impressed when he tried it that he is getting some to trial further.
