Default A8 Freunde Meet Germany Aug 09

Updated 19 June

Guys,

A few people have said that they are interested in going. Therefore I have added it to the supported events calendar.

The even is 14 to 16th Aug.

Its 380 miles from Calais so an early evening sailing would probably be best followed by a 5 hour drive (or less maybe!!!). Currently a return from Dover is about £125.

Hotel at the location, bookings can be made on line here I think (Oli....HELP!) my German is poor.

Terrassenhotel Edersee (Map)

Randstraße 4
34549 Edertal-Hemfurth-Edersee Deutschlandtreffen

As I get more I'll update.

Anyone interested post below.....

I'm fancying this too, but need to confirm all pricing before I can commit...bloody fuel costs may stop me from doing this

Unless.......does anyone fancy sharing a drive over? Share the fuel/ferry costs and jobs a good 'un?

819 miles each way for me.......that's about 6 tanks of fuel all in....even allowing for some 'economy' driving.......at current prices that's the best part of £600 double

Would love to make this, but dont think I can make the time - I'm already in Germany in September, so taking another 2/3 days out to go again is not really going to fit in the calendar...

I might consider flying in for the day just so I can perv at the German hardware though

I have had confirmation that the meet is 14 to 16 Aug. So I am up for it now and will not be attending Audis' in the park.

looking at a ferry crossing on the Friday, happy to take someone with me. I will try for an early evening sailing.

Would anyone trust me in their car? Really?

Then again, having followed our crazy dutch friend (yes Oli, I'm looking at you) through 2" deep standing water about 20mph faster than I would normally I may not be the most tired of life member of the club That was when I found out that above certain speeds the n/s windscreen wiper insert makes a bid for freedom as well.

I can't go anyway, students of history will know why it's a bad idea for me to go to that part of Germany. I am Basil Fawlty's lost cousin. The wife's family is German BTW, before you all think I'm a raving xenophobe. I can be just a little, erm, undiplomatic sometimes.

Would be nice though, the weather should be smashing and the beer is great.

But don't forget the Autobahn
Okay, this fact increases your Petrol-cunsumption..

Plans for the Nordschleife are very cool, 'cos some drivers will also be at the meet to give you some tricks and advices.

I just asked our event-manager 'bout the hotel, how many rooms are still available and about the costs. As soon as I get an info, you also will get it.

I've booked months ago, I think my room costs about 60 € per night.

If you need some help just let me know, even if you come by airplane, we'll find a solution to get you to the meet, because members and A8-drivers from all directions are coming there.

I by myself will go on friday, 14th from Stuttgart to the meeting by car and on Sunday 16th back home.
If you have a crazy idea just let it be heard

Chris.

Hi out there!

Just wanted to tell ya, that at the hotel currently 9 rooms are still available.
So, the end of capacity gets closer.

The costs are about 67 € per night and person.

I got new information about the event in the last days and I'm very excited.

Chris.
