Default Tie me kangaroo down, sport

Sorry my singing skills are not even remotely good however the title is appropriate and probably should read 'Tie me S8 down, sport'

Lately (and not every day), first drive of the day, I move off the drive and for a few seconds it 'kangaroos'. Throttle is always light but I get around 4-5 jerks and then it's fine, no issues at all.

Is this a carbon build up issue? Flaps? I was hoping to have them done next year but may look into it sooner if it is the culprit

Not in Sport mode are you? the throttle response in 'S' is very sensitive from a standstill as I'm sure you know.

If it's not smooth throttle response then perhaps try resetting the throttle position? It would have 'learned' your driving style over time but can be reset. Ignition 'on' but don't fire the car up. Now slowly press the accelerator pedal all the way down ensuring it lasts for more than 5 seconds. Hold it at the full down position for 5 seconds then slowly release the pedal ensuring it lasts for more than 5 seconds. Fire the car up, and the throttle parameters will be reset. Only works for VAG drive-by-wire throttles and you can sometimes here the throttle bodies under the bonnet reset

Doesn't sound like a symptom of the carbon build-up to me.

Nope, I very rarely put it into sport as there is plenty of power on tap

I will try the reset, thank you. It may still be learning my driving style compared to the previous owner. I would be relieved if it isn't a carbon or flap issue. Car has only done 93k and so I would hope it isn't badly coked up yet.

You say that but it's recommended it's done from 80,000mls. I wasn't too bothered until I got mine done at 120,000mls and the place doing it said it was one of the worst they had seen. It felt like the car was brand new after having it all done. Power delivery and response was so much sharper, it's faster and the intake sound is great.

Definitely on top of the list then! Was yours done at AMD Essex?

I am in the Midlands so have contacted VRS in Northampton which is where 1781cc had his done, just waiting for a reply

Mine has always done this, prior to flaps deletion and decoke, and now afterwards

I reverse up a slight incline off my drive, if I leave it to tickover until the revs drop below 1000, I blip the throttle and move back and it doesn't do it. Drive back immediately with the revs still up (and without touching the throttle) it does do it. For that reason I've always assumed it's due to over fuelling at that point, though I'm just guessing.

The majority of the time (i.e when I have time) I prefer to leave it to warm through a few minutes before making a move. It's good to hear I'm not the only one who experiences it though

I'm glad I'm not the only one either!

I'll still try the throttle reset and get the decoke done at some point
