Default Comfort Closing / Opening not working

So my car had decided at some point not to function correctly in regards to closing the windows and sunroof either by door switches or remote fob.

Its a feature I like and it was annoying me because it had stopped performing.

So out came VCDS and after some fumbling looking through the modules because I had forgotten where that adaption was even stored, I arrived at module 46, there was no fault codes stored and the adaptations were all enabled????

I tried changing the adaptations to no avail and out of desperation or curiosity i went sniffing through measuring blocks.

Once I got to group 5 it there was some Window regulator Normalization Bin bits that caught my eye due to some being 1 and other being 0

Turns out when any of them are 0, comfort closing / opening will not work.

To set them all to 1's you must pull up and hold the offending windows switch until it changes.

Once they are all 1's like in the picture comfort functions are re-enabled.

Bit of a head scratcher but its worth checking them if you have similar issues.

Did you have the battery disconnected at any point? That usually causes the system to need a reset by putting the windows all the way down and up to re-calibrate.

I did yes, had the battery disconnected to test the mechanical functions of driver door lock and boot lock to make sure should the battery go flat I can still get in.

That's what happens when the motors no longer have power.

Holding the switches up and down it resets it to the top and bottom.

Interesting about the measuring blocks though.
