Default How fast, and how?

I have seen most places quote the s8 0-60 at 6.6, but it then seems to be the same for fl and pf cars, As well as a8 4.2s?

So how fast are they all, and does anyone know the 0-100 time?

I've been trying to decide what's faster, tip, sport, or drive? In some ways tip seems faster from standing, but I really dont know. Anyone shed and light on it?

Hi there Mr K
Here's a link to a site with specs for the FL S8, where they reckon 0-60 of 6.3.
http://www.s-cars.org/postnuke/modul...rder=0&thold=0
I have a cheapo VAG-COM link & software It plugs into my laptop. You then find a nice straight, flat (and legal) place. Park, snick your motor into gear, press the appropriate button on your lap top, then go for it.
The software records your 0-60, 0-100, standing 1/4 mile and terminal velocity. As simple as that.
OK in case you're wondering what the stats for mine (02 S8) are, I don't have em.
Tried it out last year when I got the lead, but haven't yet had a serious go at it.
I have a set of these leads and software to sell, if I'm permitted to say so here.

I have no idea what the numbers are, and I've never really cared to much to be honest...

0-60 is very respectable, and will upset most 'high performance' jap wagons, with the added bonus that 60 - 120 (where permitted) is incredibly quick compared to most...

Lets not forget most cars wont even make 155, I tried it in an M3 and it was a no show, but the S8 will.

I bet when you take driver weight, crap in the boot, factory options, other toys, fuel capacity etc that no two cars are the same weight, or weight distribution... Solar roof weights more than a metal one. Bose adds a fair bit, electric rear seats adds loads, the towbar is massively heavy, blind mechanisms, tv tuners, bigger brakes, 90 liters of fuel bla bla bla, heated seats, alcantara roofs, twin pane glass (really heavy !)

As for the fastest way of getting there, well, Sport/Tip/Drive will all pretty much behave the same if you hoof your foot flat to the floor, and if you're on a time trial, why would you do any different? They will run in first gear right round to the redline @ 7000 (slightly over on facelift) and then drop into second gear, and oh hello here's 60.

Third gear is good upto 100, and fourth is good up to 150.

So, I guess what I'm saying is that whatever 0-60 you read wont apply to your car one bit, and it will probably be near as dam it the same however it is tested.

So, you'll just have to test it

too true.... well in the 20's combined and well over 30 on a run, and to be honest it feels quite perky enough for me, its initial get up and go isn't quite as fast as the alfa was but from 25 onwards it feels just as quick and it don't struggle even picking up from motorway speeds. 0-60 is a pointless measure in the real world IMHO, how often do you stand still on a 60 road and gun it? its pick up in gear 40-60 that you'll use most
