In removing the headlight units for refurb, 2 out of 4 upper securing brackets were fragile and one bracket parted company during refitting. Does anyone have the FL repair kit (Pt No 4D0998121A)? They are available from Audi Tradition for Euro 28.80 but if someone has some unused brackets sitting on a shelf, then I would be happy pay a forum member rather than AT especially as post Brexit customs/admin charges are adding to costs these days!

Now if there was only someone who could make these plastic parts with a 3D printer AND based in the UK, that might help keep the price down.

Pity you can't use the PF version of them (P/N 4D0998121) as there's ones at the following link, which are considerably cheaper (subject to import duties, VAT and whatever else to be added now). The only difference I can see; subject to there being a difference in dimensions; is that the two lugs at the back of the plastic part is different.

These brackets unfortunately aren't a good fit for 3D printing as they are way too delicate. The layered nature of Filament Deposition Modelling (desktop type) 3D printing means it has full strength in only two dimensions and only half strength in the 3rd, except with some exotic nylons. With something this thin, that would be an unworkable compromise.

Selective Laser Sintering (the industrial type) fuses material together with pretty much equal strength in all dimensions, however that technology is still prohibitively expensive for tinkerers like me.

Dean has offered to help with buying from Tradition while they won't ship to the UK

David, if you can send me a photo of the bit you need, I’ll go and have a look in my ‘spare headlight bits’ box. Can’t promise that I’ll have what you need, and it won’t be new, but if I have it, I’ll pop it in the post to you.

Is this what we're talking about (see photos below). Is it right or left headlight that has the broken brackets?

This is the repair kit:

It screws on in place of the broken brackets.
