Default Annual Meet - West Country Convoy

I will be setting out from Exeter area about 10am on the Friday with MJ driving point.
Route is A38, M5, M42, A42, M1 and as required to reach venue.
Plan is to meet up with Neil about 1pm for a pub lunch somewhere on the A42.
If anyone wants to joins us they would be very welcome. Nothing like a line of A8s to get people thinking wtf?

Hmm, might join in as our preferred "comfort" route from Bucks isn't the obvious (and slightly shorter) M25/M1 but actually M40/M42 etc.

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions, ski hatch retrofit; extended leather. Aftermarket DVB-T, reversing camera and full XCarlink (Bluetooth etc.).
2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

I may try and join you if possible. We'll likely be making different stops though on account of my boy needing extra breaks, so probably stop before leaving the M5 and then again somewhere on the M1.

I could either try and join the convoy after your lunch but then break off for my stop, or join after my stop on the M1 and convoy to the hotel?

It looks to me that I have to cross with the eurotunnel.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate some advice
I have never been to the UK. So I would like to visit interesting places, while I have the opportunity.

Large cities doesn't really interest me. But I would like to visit smaller communities where one can have a chat with the locals. And to visit historical places.
I will probably arrive in the UK several days before the Annual meet, and also stay the following week.

I plan to move around as it suits me. And I will not have a set plan, or schedule. Besides the Annual meet, of course.

Going by intuition usually suits me pretty well.

I'm no expert on the south of England, but a few suggestions for your journey north ...

Bletchley Park

The British Motor Museum

Blenheim Palace

Blenheim Palace is also on the edge of the area known as the Cotswolds AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), which is well worth a visit and is a nice, tranquil place to stay for a few nights. If you have enough time you could continue on from the Cotswolds into Wales, which has some stunning driving roads.
