Ok so no P. I presume you have the PRND432 display on the cluster though?

Does it change to show the other gears as you move the stick with the ignition on but not running?

Ok so that could be a duff contact in the F125 or it could be that the shifter cable is improperly adjusted. Put it in P and loosen the two bolts on the cable bracket and allow the cable to find its own position then nip them back up and see if it helps. If not then you'll need VCDS to check what the TCU is reporting and verify what the switch contacts are showing.

MJ, given the quick and dirty breakdown I did (from Ainars documents) in the other thread I'd put money on it being just an adjustment, resulting in an invalid code at the TCU so no display.
If one of the switches wasn't working it would almost certainly misread one or more of the other gear settings.
Though as it's the "cam and switches" internals who knows, it could be a damaged section of plastic cam...…

The test procedure was posted by Ainars in another thread. You can do most of this with a multimeter.
See: http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...6&d=1597582836
Adjust it first as recommended by MJ obviously (it also states that in the procedure).

The procedure is somewhat disingenuous in that with the switch disconnected and ignition off you'll probably struggle to move the selector lever.

However, in reality, and certainly initially, you'll probably only need to test the various pins while it's in "P".
In reality that will mean (if the F125 is OK): 1&2 connected. 1&3, 1&4, 1&5 all open circuit.
6&7 should also be connected when in P; without that (or a relay bypass like me! ) you can't start the car in P. But you say it does turn over in P so that's probably OK.

It's important to note that the circuit to allow starting (6&7) is independent of the TCU input saying it's in Park (1&2).
I expect it's the latter that drives the DIS. Though what else it does I personally have no idea......
