Default Can't remove Fuel pump assy?!?

Hi,

I'm in the middle of attempting to replace the fuel pump in my '95 4.2 QS but I can't seem to get the fuel pump assembly out of the tank . I've been in the boot for about 45 minutes pulling and twisting but it just won't come out . Do I need to drop the tank to get it out or am I just missing the technique?

I'll add a pic of were I've got it to in a minute.

Thanks for looking by the way.

Mofri

i think there is a write up of pump removal on the audiworld forum, it mentions the way of getting the pump out, in the write up it says there is 1 section that has to go out first and then the rest of the pump follows easily. Can't remember details exactly, so i'd google it.....

Default got it out, now gotta get it back in...

Thanks for the reply B@fink. It was the sender unit stopping it from getting out.

Now that I've swapped the pump I'm having trouble getting the (expletive deleted) thing back in again. I can get it down to about an inch away from home but it just won't go. I'm trying twisting and a reasonable amount of force but it still won't seat.

I've spent the last hour searching Audiworld and theres lots of talk of Elsawin and bently manuals but I can't find either.

Any help advice would be much appreciated.

thanks
