Question Front LED indicator bulbs

Would it be possible to change my standard front indicator bulbs for LED bulbs? Or would the car scream at me saying it has an error? They are 581 bulbs if I'm not mistaken.

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions, ski hatch retrofit; extended leather. Aftermarket DVB-T, reversing camera and full XCarlink (Bluetooth etc.).
2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

LEDs give a much crisper on/off but you would have to put resistors in parallel so you need somewhere to place them where the heat won't melt any plastic etc.

Hmm, I don't see how an orange LED looks nicer than an orange bulb when it's on. Which isn't often anyway, but it has to be orange. Still perplexed....

If you have an orange bulb or lens showing when not operating and don't like that then there are simple solutions.
Both my cars have silvered/chromed bulbs under clear lenses in the front indicators and side repeaters. They look clear but flash the correct orange colour. Cheap as chips too.

I think some of the "chromed" look bulbs look brighter and more LED-ey than normal bulbs but without any of the hassle / risk. I changed mine when I was up at A8 parts and think that they look better both when flashing and even when they arent lit! They look a sort of purpley colour when they are not lit.

I'll try and take some video if the sky ever gets bright enough here and post . . .

The main front indicators in my S8 are somewhat like that, but you have to look pretty carefully through the multi-faceted lens to notice.
There are many variations though and the main ones I have in the Focus have a very chrome look when unlit (lens is clear).

Yeah I had the chromed bulbs on my last car to avoid the 'fried egg' look, that will probably be the route to take rather than sodding around with resistors etc.

Our bulbs are not the ones in the OP, they are py24w.
They are super expensive in tungsten and even moreseo as LED, and you need 4, so think about $120. The alternative would be to brew your own using your existing bulb base and some 1156 or1157 SMD luminaires from dx.com or ebay.
