Default Eight Years

Was thinking it was a bit chilly up here today..then I remembered it's 8 years ago today that Connor and I flew down to Cambridge to pick up the S8 (unseen before that ). On the way back I recall seeing minus 11 on the dash as we drove across Shap Summit Still the best car I have ever owned

Bought mine around the same time as Adrian and hadn't heard of this forum back then, we posted here.

Eight years! It would be interesting to know what sort of time people have kept their 8s. I bought my first D2 S8 in 07. I've had the Murple since 2011. I'm now on my 5th D2! 😯

I got my first one in March 2002, so nearly 17 years ago. Only on the second one now.
The two are together in my signature picture.

Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.

And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

8 years here too

Bought mine back in June 2010. It's the longest I've owned any car and, at 16 years old, it's now the oldest car I've ever owned, by several years.

My ownership of 8s goes back to about 2004 though, owning 2 A8s before the S8 (both of which were 4.2s).

I bought my first D2 (a '99 3.7q) in 2001 and kept that for 7 years. I then spent another 7 years in purgatory until I bought my grey S8 in 2015.

I bought my D2 4.2 QS thirteen years ago and ran it for seven years before I discovered this forum. Kept it for two more years then bought the D3 in March 2014, so approaching five years with it now.

Do miss my A8's

Bought the first one (D2) I think in June 2007 and sold in September 2014 (head gasket gone)
Next one (D3) was bought in Feb 2013 and sold in March 2015 (too many gremlins)

Both me and the wife still talk about getting another one but can't see it happening to be honest (but never say never.....)
