I also seen PF double din fascia+cage on ebay for £150 but still it was too much for me.

They were only available in the very last 1998 models, and then the facelift happened - That's what makes them so rare
To give it some perspective, I've seen only two in the flesh in the last 8 years, and I've seen a *lot* of D2s.... On the plus side, they're not handed, so you might have better luck searching German / French / Belgium Ebay...

Fitting the FL cage to a PF is do-able (Theres a thread on here somewhere from when I did it a ___long___ time ago) but be prepared for a lot of headache as the climate module wont fit / work and buttons like heated window move. Also the fog lights and heated seats change. FL uses canbus, which the PF doesn't use so then you have to start generating canbus signals for speed / ignition etc for the climate module to work and really, that's easier done with a FL instrument cluster. Its quite a big job.....
