I have a spare "hedgehog" and was planning to swap it if the problem becomes frequent.

But once or twice in 13 months doesn't qualify as frequent......

Rather a wet day today but having used the car a bit recently I decided to do a scan and this error has returned. Fan working fine though... .
I still think it's probably a bad connector, maybe a poor contact affected by vibration/damp.

I wish I knew what exactly the error means, presumably something is being compared and found wanting in some way, but what sensors?

(On the plus side, no other errors apart from the eternal alarm low internal voltage warning)

Well, V2 is the blower motor itself of course and the Ros-Tech Wiki states:

Quote:
Possible Causes
Fresh Air Blower (V2) defective
Control Module for Fresh Air Blower (J126) defective
Short of open circuit in wiring to Fresh Air Blower (V2)
Climatronic Control Module (J255) malfunctioning
Considering the motor has just two connections, the only way the controller could possibly sense something is wrong is by monitoring current-flow (unless air-flow is somehow measured, but I doubt it's that sophisticated).

So the fault code probably tells you no more than you already knew, that there is an intermittent fault causing a break in the current-flow. Probably a bad connection, as you say, but is the bad connection in the wiring, the "hedgehog" or the motor itself?

I haven't scanned the car since that error was spotted in March, but decided to do so today. Hasn't returned.
And the fan has been working perfectly including via Solar power.

Did you ever get to the bottom of this Andrew? Mine stopped working today though a sharp bang with a clenched fist on the box got it going again..so hopefully just a dodgy connection. My mechanic is going to have a look at it next week and he has Maria's number just in case

On a more positive note it passed the MOT with an advisory "Central Exhaust has a minor leak of exhaust gases"....I think it sounds better like that so not too fussed at the moment

No, never did. It "usually" works OK...

Turns out the blower motor is (to use a Scottish technical term) gubbed, managed to get the only one left from our sponsors. Came from a 2.8 so can't imagine it had a solar roof which hopefully will give me a few more years..
