A D2 A8 to D3 S8 conversion was never going to be easy (talking from a supposedly straight swap B7 RS4 rear conversion).

You'll probably need some kind of caliper adapter.

Talk to Ben at AVP for advice and don't sell them to Ian until you've given me first refusal.

Thanks for the response ian (and just saw everyone else's replies too)- and the kind offer to relieve me of the brakes! (it seems like every other post here someone is offering to take them off my hands lol).

I think you're right about the hubs though...

I have emailed Ben to see what his thoughts are...i'd still really like to fit them and i'm hoping that if you can fit Porsche brakes using brakes, then surely there must be a way of doing this with other Audi brakes (he says with a hopeful tone).

I'll keep you guys posted on progress though...i may need to begrudgingly sell these on...but i'm not giving up yet

I think the issue is that the hub mouting points expect a caliper to fit behind it but the D3 calipers that i have bought seem to have a flat side that would indicate that you mount it 'in front' ofthe hub mounting point.

I've tried to explain in this diagram...hope it makes senses (note top right comment should say 'hub mount' not 'bug mount'):

You may be able to cobble together a bracket, but I do know that some A8s have a different hub and caliper setup from others. PaulW fitted Porsche brakes to his, but he did have to have to get some brackets manufactured.

If you're really stuck.. I may be interested as they're a straight drop on my D3 *joins queue*..

call me old fashioned but if its something involved in trying to stop 1600kg from high speed the last thing i'd want is something "cobbled" together!!! (and i don't want to join the queue, my brakes seem perfectly effective! )

Thanks guys for all the words of wisdom and for the eagerness to take them off my hands! (You bunch of vultures!! )

I had a chat with Ben and he's convinced he can engineer mounting brackets to make these fit so I'm dropping the car off with him in a month.

Thanks again for all the help though...i'll keep you posted on progress.
